DIY Marquee wedding at Verity and Fred’s Family Home

Verity and Fred’s wedding was nothing short of legendary. They had a DIY celebration held at their family home after a church ceremony, filled with personal touches and a whole lot of creativity. We were absolutely thrilled to be part of it all as their wedding photographers based in Bedfordshire, and let’s just say, it was one of those weddings where you can’t help but smile behind the camera all day long.

The vibe? Totally chilled, fun, and bursting with love – just like Verity and Fred themselves!

Let’s talk about this DIY wedding at Verity and Fred’s family home…

Venue and Wedding Details

There’s something so wholesome about a wedding at home, isn’t there? Verity and Fred transformed the family home into the ultimate wedding venue, and honestly, it was epic.

They opted for a marquee from Funky Monkey Tents, which became the central hub of the day. In the garden, the marquee was brought to life with twinkling lights, rustic styling, and some seriously cool décor. The setup was gorgeous as every little detail had a personal touch, from the handmade table settings to the fun decorations.

One of the most impressive things about their day was how they turned their outdoor space into something so cool. The team from Wren Ark supplied luxurious tableware, which elevated the dining experience with so much style. It was the perfect contrast to the relaxed, DIY vibe, and it all worked so well together.

And then there were the florals – wow! Hay Lane Flower Farm created the most stunning seasonal arrangements that fit perfectly with the natural, countryside setting. The bouquets and table centrepieces were full of fresh blooms and greenery, all locally grown, giving the day an eco-friendly edge. It’s safe to say the entire space looked incredible, and you could tell how much thought and care had gone into every aspect of this DIY wedding!

Wedding Planner Spotlight

If there’s one person who deserves a standing ovation for bringing Verity and Fred’s vision to life, it’s Hannah Whiteley from Fields and Festoons. She’s an absolute legend when it comes to planning blank canvas weddings, and her expertise shone through in every aspect of the day!

Starting with just an open garden and some big ideas, Hannah helped Verity and Fred pull everything together to create a space that felt warm, welcoming, and totally “them.”

From managing the marquee setup to coordinating the many moving parts of the day, Hannah’s role was essential in making sure everything ran smoothly. DIY weddings can be a bit daunting – there’s so much to think about – but with Hannah at the helm, you’d never have known.

She has that magical ability to turn an empty field (or in this case, a garden!) into a wedding wonderland. Every detail was spot on, and you could tell Verity and Fred completely trusted her to bring their dream wedding day to life!

Wedding Supplier Highlights

What really made Verity and Fred’s wedding stand out were the incredible suppliers who worked their magic behind the scenes.

Funky Monkey Tents set the stage with their stylish marquee, complete with lighting and furniture that brought a festival-meets-elegant vibe to the garden. It was the perfect spot for guests to eat, drink, and dance the night away.

The outside chill area styling was on point, thanks to The White Emporium, who brought a modern, playful energy to the day with their design touches. Gemma’s  work added so much character to the overall look alongside those beaut florals and festoons.

Wren Ark’s tableware and décor tied everything together beautifully!

The catering by The Sun in Felmersham deserves a massive shoutout too. They served up a delicious feast that had everyone raving. Think hearty, flavourful dishes paired with drinks – the kind of food that keeps you coming back for seconds (and maybe thirds)!

For entertainment, the vibe was electric. Lara V Sax brought the party to life with her incredible saxophone skills, and DJ Blue Mark Entertainment kept the dancefloor buzzing well into the night. I’ve honestly never seen a dancefloor go off like this, solidly packed as well, CONSTANTLY.

There was even a fireworks display by The UK Firework Company, which was the perfect way to end the night of their DIY wedding on a high.

And let’s not forget Rhino Bar Hire, who kept the drinks flowing all evening with Hawkstone lager and more – absolute heroes!!

Photography Experience

As photographers, we always aim to feel like part of the day rather than just “the people with the cameras.” With Verity and Fred’s wedding, we were right in the thick of it – hyping up the couple, chatting with guests, and capturing all the big and little moments in between.

We like to think of ourselves as golden retrievers in human form – excitable, enthusiastic, and 100% ready to get stuck in!

Verity and Fred were total legends to work with. They were so relaxed and down-to-earth, which made our job even easier. We love how DIY weddings give us so many personal moments to photograph, and this one was packed with them.

One of our favourite parts of the day was sneaking Verity and Fred away super quickly for a super quick couple’s shoot and moment together after dinner. The light was perfect, and their family garden made for such a gorgeous backdrop. They were so natural and comfortable together, and we think it really shows in the photos. It’s moments like that that remind us why we love what we do!
