We first met Carly and Martin on the day of their engagement shoot, almost two years before the wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns itself. We went for a walk around a small lake and local woods close to our studio in Cranfield, and we had been looking forward to this wedding ever since!
No awkward posing here!
Like most of our couples, Carly and Martin told us they hate having their photo taken. ‘Its awkward, they don’t know what to do with themselves, and really it just sucks.’ This is exactly the reason we knew we were a match, and also why we encourage pre-wedding shoots. Not just to get yourself a nice set of images as a reminder of such an exciting time, but ultimately to see how much of a laugh we have. To put your mind at rest so you’ve one less thing to worry about in the lead up to the wedding day, and to get to know us a little better, too! We’ve been there, we remember those awkward school photos, and we know you just can’t pose laughter, real emotion, and all the good stuff. Nor would we want to.
The most colourful wedding for the most fun couple.
These guys gave us a glimpse of their vision way before the day, and we know we were in for a bit of a ride amongst flairs of colour. Before the wedding Carly mentioned it was a bit of a dream to get some photos with alpacas (!) on their wedding day, we knew we’d be having a good time. So, after the ceremony in the beautifully decorated rickety barn, there were two alpacas suited and booted ready for a little walk. They got so much attention on the day and guests absolutely loved them both just as much as we did!

We always love seeing how personalities manifest into weddings – After all the wedding day is a reflection of the pair of you, your story and your personalities. It was no surprise that their day was the epitome of happiness, colour and fun. With literature at the centre of each table reflecting Carly’s love for writing and reading, and quotes from their favourite literature and film ‘love duos’ dotted around just about everywhere, it was just awesome. Carly’s mum actually mentioned in her speech how being around Carly and Martin is simply like… Rainbows. We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Tres emotional!

And the video is simply WOW. I can’t watch it without crying with happiness – it’s without a doubt some of the best money we spent, as we can now re-live our wedding day whenever we like!
