SOMERLEYTON HALL WEDDING – AMY & LEIGH

INTIMATE CLASSIC WEDDING AT SOMERLEYTON HALL IN LOWESTOFT

IF YOU LOVE GRAND VENUES THEN YOU’LL LOVE THIS CLASSIC WEDDING!

Amy and Leigh got married at the spectacular Somerleyton Hall, Lowestoft, in July. It was a super fun summery wedding, with flowers on the tables, polar bears in the entrance hall, a conservatory setting, and greenery everywhere!

Getting ready

Amy got ready in the bridal suite at Somerleyton Hall with her bridesmaids, mum and step-mum, and there was such an exciting vibe. The bridal suite was the most incredible pink room with a fitting canopy bed and a view of the courtyard, too. She wore a vintage style beaded dress from Serendipity Bridal with a ‘bride’ denim jacket, and looked so funky. After an emotional reveal to dad, the bride then walked the short distance downstairs and across the way to get to the ceremony. It was a bit of an emotional moment as everyone watched Amy start walking down the stairs, and that soon turned to laughter as she showed her true self, stomping down the huge wooden stairs followed by her dad.

Leigh got ready in The Fritton Arms nearby, with his groomsmen. He wore a rented suit from Moss Bros, and looked really cool! He travelled to the ceremony in a blue Audi that belonged to his late dad who passed away not too long before the wedding – Very personal and a bit emotional, really. We love personal touches like this as, although they can be a little emotional, it does allow a moment of reflection and its a way to involve important people who can’t be there, too.

The ceremony

The ceremony took place in the conservatory in Somerleyton Hall. The ceremony area was lit by fairy lights, which was just stunning, alongside the greenery and statues. The ceremony began with vows, and finished with a big cheer from everyone. It was a wonderful ceremony, full of excited hand squeezes and private smiles.

After the ceremony, we took some time out for photos, which is such a great time for the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in. Then the couple mingled with their guests, which was the perfect time for me to get candid photos. We got some really special candid photos as everyone was so much fun and loved having their photo taken – with lots of confetti, flowing drinks and a party of people up for so much fun! The weather was all sunshine and blue skies, it was a beautiful day.

The reception

Amy and Leigh chose to have their wedding at Somerleyton Hall because they wanted to get married in a manor house further away, and Amy’s dad suggested they get married around here instead – and it’s their family origin! Somerleyton Hall is a quirky country house owned by Lord and Lady Somerleyton, and it’s got such a unusual vibe, especially in the main entrance halls where the light is especially awesome, and its full of very old taxidermy and alternative self portraits.

For the reception, the couple had planned a maze trip for everyone in the gardens and sweets/biscuits for their guests. Everyone had so much fun and we loved getting involved – Even if a few of us got lost in the maze together. Everyone was then called in for dinner, which was proper wedding grub. It was gobbled down in seconds by everyone. They had speeches after the mains and dessert, which were really funny – and a little emotional.

The evening

After the reception, the couple kicked off the dancing with a song suggested by Leigh’s dad at the beginning of wedding planning, and the dancefloor was packed all night. The DJ kept the party going all night.

The evening ended with a sparkler exit, which was such a wonderful idea – and everyone loved it! The whole wedding was just the happiest occasion, from the bride’s awesome dress to the sparkler exit. These guys were an absolute dream from beginning to end – We loved their vibe, their style, and their whole wedding story. One of the most fun moments of the wedding was the best men speech, because it was full of laughter and clumsy moments like upside-down pictures which just topped it. The ceremony was also a talking point of the wedding – As a lover of outdoor/conservatory settings it was just perfect.

We loved this Somerleyton Hall wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for an awesome wedding photographer, get in touch. Here are the photos!
