Some weddings feel huge and loud in the best way possible. Others feel more intentional, cosy and completely centred around spending time with your favourite people. Rebecca and Lewis’ wedding at The Great Barn Aynhoe somehow managed to be both.
From the second we arrived, the whole day just had this really relaxed energy to it. No rushing around and no unnecessary stress. Just loads of happy people, nice details, really good food, and a couple who were clearly just buzzing to marry each other!
Also…their dog being there all day instantly made them our kind of people.
As wedding photographers and videographers, these are honestly the weddings we love most. Personal touches everywhere, people doing things their own way, and absolutely zero pressure to follow the “traditional wedding rulebook” if it doesn’t actually suit them.
And Rebecca and Lewis absolutely nailed that balance! Let’s talk more about it…

A ridiculously lovely morning with their dog stealing the show
One of the best things about The Great Barn Aynho is how the getting ready space is actually part of the venue itself.
It sounds simple, but honestly it makes such a difference on the morning of a wedding. Everyone stays close to the action, there’s no stressful travelling around, and the whole day flows so much more naturally.
Rebecca spent the morning getting ready surrounded by her favourite people…and their doggy baby, who very much considered themselves part of the bridal party.
As they should.
The Dressing Room at The Great Barn Aynho is such a lovely calm space too. Loads of natural light, loads of room, and close enough that you still feel connected to everything happening outside without feeling overwhelmed.
Rebecca’s outfit was also unreal!
She wore a beautiful two-piece bridal look from Catherine Deane via The Little Bridal Boutique with the most bloomin awesome beaded top and skirt combination that suited the relaxed-but-stylish vibe of the whole wedding perfectly.
Then later in the evening she changed into wide-leg trousers which felt iconic.

Why The Great Barn Aynho works so well for relaxed weddings
There’s something really easy about a wedding at The Great Barn Aynhoe.
The venue has loads of character without feeling overly formal, and because the spaces flow so naturally into each other, guests genuinely relax into the day really quickly.
Rebecca and Lewis had their ceremony in the Cart Shed, which feels cosy and intimate whilst still having loads of space and natural light. The exposed beams and stone walls give it loads of warmth without needing loads of extra styling.
And then once the ceremony ended, they immediately did their cake cutting before heading outside for confetti.
Which honestly? Absolute genius move.
Instead of the cake being hidden away until 10pm when everyone’s too busy dancing or slightly too drunk to appreciate it properly, cocktail hour basically became cake, cookies and brownies hour.
A wedding after our own hearts really!

The most incredible hand-painted cake ever
We need to talk properly about this cake. Because WOW.
Happylicious Cakes by Elissa created the most insanely detailed hand-painted wedding cake we’ve ever seen. And not only did it look incredible, we actually got to watch it being assembled and painted tier by tier on site throughout the morning.
It genuinely felt like watching someone create edible artwork!
The colours, the tiny painted details, the textures…everything about it suited the vibe of the wedding perfectly. Relaxed but still ridiculously thoughtful and creative.
And because Rebecca and Lewis did the cake cutting straight after the ceremony, everyone actually got to enjoy it whilst chatting outside in the sunshine.
Highly recommend this energy going forward!!

A wedding that felt completely like them
One thing we always notice when photographing weddings at The Great Barn Aynhoe is that the best ones never feel copied from Pinterest. They feel personal.
Rebecca and Lewis included so many little touches throughout the day that genuinely reflected who they are, and it made the whole atmosphere feel really warm and connected.
There were personalised games on the tables, including custom Guess Who cards featuring guests, which got some absolutely incredible reactions throughout the evening.
There was also an Easter egg hunt for the flower girl, which may have been one of the cutest things we’ve ever witnessed at a wedding.
And instead of going full massive disco party mode in the evening, they kept things relaxed with live music from Harry Pane, loads of games, drinks, chatting, and people properly spending time together.
Honestly? We kinda loved that.
Not every wedding needs a packed dancefloor until midnight to feel fun. Sometimes the best atmosphere comes from people genuinely enjoying each other’s company without pressure or expectation.

The details that tied everything together perfectly
Every part of this wedding at The Great Barn Aynhoe felt really intentional without trying too hard.
The florals from Unfauxgettable Flowers added loads of softness and texture throughout the venue whilst still keeping everything feeling natural and relaxed.

Rebecca’s jewellery from Astley Clarke and Forever Jems paired perfectly with the modern bridal look, and her Air & Grace shoes were probably one of the most sensible but still stylish wedding shoe choices we’ve seen in a while!

Hair by Lauren Shaw and makeup by Mariella Rodhouse kept everything looking really effortless and natural too, which suited Rebecca perfectly.
Nothing felt overdone. Just thoughtful, stylish, relaxed and very them!

Portraits around the lakes and countryside
The grounds at The Great Barn Aynho are honestly awesome for couple portraits because you barely need to walk anywhere before finding another brilliant backdrop.
You’ve got lakes, woodland, countryside views, open fields, stone barns…it’s basically impossible to take a bad photo there.
We wandered off with Rebecca and Lewis for a little breather away from the guests, and honestly some of our favourite moments from the whole day happened then.
Just the two of them hanging out together, laughing, cuddling, and finally having a minute to properly take everything in.
Those quiet little moments after the chaos of the day are always some of our favourites to capture!
