Charlotte & Simon’s fairytale Rowton Castle wedding

Sausage Superstition

Yeah, you read right. As soon as we turned up, Charlotte told us that she’d buried a sausage on the morning of her wedding at Rowton Castle, a quirky custom believed to stave off rain. We’re still surprised by things even after 15 years of shooting weddings, haha! We did laugh and we knew straight away we’d get on and have a laugh that day. BUT joking aside, the weather did indeed cooperate. Charlotte was telling all of her guests about it all day!

Floral Moon Arches

The couple exchanged vows inside Rowton Castle, surrounded by lots of flowers and candles, surrounded by their favourite folk. It was super romantic and there were lots of ethereal touches to their ceremony, creating an lovely backdrop.

Can you believe they’re fake?

Things have really changed these last few years – These flowers were fake! They looked remarkably lifelike and elegant. We do love fresh flowers but if you’re looking for something a little less spendy, theres truly so much option now and they look great! From cascading arrangements to delicate bouquets, each bloom contributed to the enchanting atmosphere of the celebration.

The Acoustics

Guests were serenaded with live acoustic music throughout the day, providing the perfect soundtrack to Simon and Charlotte’s love story. From soulful melodies during the ceremony to upbeat tunes during the reception, the music added an extra layer of joy to the festivities.

Sparklers and Marshmallow Roasting

As it got dark, we wandered outside for a little break from dancing as evening food came out. Guests gathered around a roaring fire, toasting marshmallows and lighting up the night sky with sparklers.

Simon and Charlotte’s wedding at Rowton Castle was nothing short of a fairytale come to life which is exactly what they both wanted! From quirky traditions to enchanting decor and heartfelt moments, every detail contributed to a lovely laid back wedding day.
